Missionary Update

Dear Friends and Family,

Thank you so much for your continued support of my time here in Madagascar!  Like usual, things have been busy but they are going well.  We just moved our group of oldest girls to a new house the other day and are so thankful for the opportunity to spread out and have a little more space!  We have yet to build our houses on our new land, so until then we will continue renting houses for our kids in the village.  So now, instead of 57 girls in two 4 bedroom houses, we have spread out to three houses and the girls are really happy to have a bit more space!

This month was a big month for little Tsiresy - he turned three and also graduated from Akany Laza!  He initially came to us in November weighing 10lbs, but graduated at a whopping 22lbs!  He did really well on our program, and we are also excited that this month his mom was able to start working at our center as a house mom.  This will help out a lot as their family will have more of an income to keep supplementing Tsiresy's diet at home and hopefully continue to help him grow and get stronger.  Thank you for praying for the little ones that come through our program - it is always so exciting to see them improve!

It has been so nice having Nanja, the woman who is now overseeing the girls with me, working with me over the last two months. She has been doing well and takes a lot of initiative with all of the different things that need to be done throughout the week.  It's a real blessing having her here and it has been exciting to see her confidence grow since she started. If you think to keep her in prayer, please pray that she would continue to gain confidence in her new role and also in her interaction with the teen girls, particularly when dealing with discipline issues.

I would like to ask for your prayer for Madagascar in general - for the leadership and government here.  There is a woman who lives in our city who is in a high position of power and is also very close friends with the president.  Unfortunately, she is also very deep into the occult and practicing witchcraft.  Two years ago she began to build a hotel and needed some human sacrifices to bless the land where she wanted to build.  There was a period of a few months where people in our area were being attacked and killed as the sacrifices for this land.  It was going on for a while, but then we hadn't heard much since then.  We just found out that they are planning to have a big conference for the Free Masons here in May and want to make Madagascar's president the head of the Free Masons in Africa.  The details are still a little fuzzy to me, but basically, for some reason, this woman was called upon to sacrifice her own daughter now, but she is refusing.  Ironic, since she has no problem taking other peoples' lives.  So, in place of her daughter they need to sacrifice 500 girls.

Already some girls in our area have gone missing.  We spoke with our kids this week and made sure that they are aware and know not to ever get into a car with a stranger.  I know this all sounds a bit unbelievable, but there is a lot of darkness in this world we live in.  There is also a lot of light when you are walking with Jesus, and He is more powerful than anything we could ever come against.  We are trusting Him for protection and are praying that He would bring change to the hearts of those in leadership in this country.  Thank you for standing with us in prayer!  We know we serve a powerful God and that He is with us wherever we go, so we don't have to be afraid.

I hope that you are all doing well as spring is quickly approaching!  As always, I am so thankful for your continual support, encouragement, and prayer.  When difficult situations are happening here, it is always so nice to remember I have a big "family" around the world who is standing with me in all of it.  So thank you for the important role that you are playing.

Much love from Madagascar,

Chris
