Who your gift is going to help this year?

If this is your first Christmas at New Life then this will be your first opportunity to be a part of our Christmas miracle. Each year as we gather on Christmas eve or morning to give thanks to the Lord, we bring a special Christmas offering that is given away in its entirety to help our local community and our international missions projects. Over the years we have given away over one million dollars to hurting and helpless people who needed the Hope of Christmas love in a very real and tangible way.

This year we will focus on two areas of need. Our first is the Santiago Children’s Ministries Outreach Center and the “Club del Mundo del Amigo Invisible”, [the World of our Invisible Friend Club] – a ministry that reaches out to the children of Santiago, Chile (pop. 6.5 million), through a variety of ministries.  First of which is an evangelism team that works in the city running special outreach events designed to share the gospel with the children. To follow up with those who respond the center has developed a comprehensive discipleship program designed specifically for children.  On top of this the center also runs a hot meal program, educational reinforcement program, rescues children from child prostitution, operates a shelter and provides medical and foster care.

Jim and Ester Mazureks have built this ministry from the ground up, they also raise all the funds needed for staff and construction and manage the building development.  Due to the size of the project, which includes a church, a school, an athletic area, and the offices for the overall ministry it has been a huge undertaking and they have not wavered once under this great responsibility. We have supported this work for many years but have felt lead to make the Children’s Center a special need this Christmas. The Mazureks are on the home stretch and we’d love to surprise them with a special offering to help them cross the finish line and complete the building project.

Our second area of need is the Derby campus. What an impact our gift last year has made to the fellowship in Derby, as we where able to stretch our funds to install a completely new heating and air-conditioning system, renovate both the men’s and ladies room, install a completely new handicapped bathroom facility, recondition all the hallways by redoing the floors and paint the walls, totally renovate the sanctuary, install all new seating, sound, lighting and projection. Through the work of many volunteers the campus has been transformed and a renewed excitement has ignited interest from the community. This renewed energy has increased their numbers and now well over 100 people gather in Derby each week to worship. The focus of the Derby campus in now set on outreach to the community. To this end we would love to renovate the gymnasium and start a youth program and perhaps a sports based outreach program. While the gym renovations wouldn’t require much other than a fresh coat of paint and some minor repairs, a larger issue has developed in the roof over the gym, a leak has begun. After consulting with roofing professionals their only solution is replacement.

This is unfortunately is not inexpensive. So we would love to once again encourage the Derby church and get behind their vision of outreach and bless them with the needed repairs.

Please take some time to prayerfully consider your gift this year. God has blessed our economy this year, lets bless others in return. We encourage you to make it a family decision; using this opportunity as a teaching moment to show your children the importance of honoring God with your finances to bless those less fortunate. In the past people have asked and so we suggest perhaps basing your gift off of what you might spend taking the a gift for a loved one. The important thing is not so much the amount of our gift as it is the sacrifice; give according to your blessing. Some may give $50, some $100 while others could easily give $1,000. If we ALL sacrifice and give, we will be able to bless our local community and reach out to those far beyond. Bring your gift to either our Christmas Eve (5pm) or Christmas Morning service (10am) in the enclosed offering envelope and I know the Lord will bless you.

Can I personally challenge each family to strive to reach the $100 goal we have set for each family and also let me thank you in advance for your generocity and may God bless you for your Birthday gift for Jesus this Christmas Season.
